This Teacher Donated Her Kidney To A 5-Year-Old Student Suffering From A Rare Disease

Teachers are some of the most extraordinary people in the world. They are very passionate about their craft and are very committed to developing the personality of their students. The bond that is developed between them and their students are only replicated at home. No other profession can match the long-term impact and bond offered by teaching.

For preschool teacher Beth Battista, her bond with her student Lyla Carreyn is now unbreakable. Beth volunteered to donate her kidney to save the life of the five-year-old. She didn’t think twice about helping Lyla who had been diagnosed last year with microscopic polyangiitis, which required her to undergo dialysis 12 hours a day.

Beth informed Lyla’s parents that she wanted to donate her kidney when she learned that the young girl needed a kidney in 2016. She just knew she had to get tested and after three months, the transplant was done on February 22.

Her decision to help Lyla was just another calling for Beth who always knew she was meant to be a wife and a mom and a teacher. She also wanted to give Lyla a happy and healthy future.

Beth had to undergo tests at the University of Wisconsin Health Transplant Program to determine if she would be a good donor. She has a six- and an eighth-year-old kid, so she had to explain to them her act of compassion. Her kids understood Lyla’s situation and how sickly she was.

According to Beth, her uncle was also a recipient of a kidney donor. She still remembers the impact that this generosity had on her life, and the extra ten years her uncle had after the transplant. By offering her other kidney to Lyla, Beth wanted to give back. She believes it was her turn to be an angel to another person’s life.

Beth’s act of kindness made headlines. The American Family Children’s Hospital uploaded a video of Lyla and Beth after the transplant surgery. Various media sites picked up the two’s heartwarming story which quickly became viral.

Lyla’s family relied on a nationwide search to seek kidney donors, but it failed to get a compatible match. Battista was a witness to the kid’s struggle and felt the urge to get herself voluntarily tested. Her kidney matched that of Lyla’s.
Battista relayed the good news to Lyla’s mother, Dena Carreyn, that she was a confirmed match for her daughter. Dena was set up to discuss her daughter’s special needs and was all tears when the teacher informed her that she was donating a kidney. That moment was documented and also went viral. The two mothers even appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show after the clip went wide.

Dena considers Beth as the family’s miracle for saving the life of her daughter and allowing her to live a longer life and pursue her dreams.

Lost Ways Of Survival Video

An amazing discovery in an abandoned house in Austin, Texas: A lost book of amazing survival knowledge, believed to have been long vanished to history, has been found in a dusty drawer in the house which belonged to a guy named Claude Davis.

Remember... back in those days, there was no electricity... no refrigerators... no law enforcement... and certainly no grocery store or supermarkets... Some of these exceptional skills are hundreds of years of old and they were learned the hard way by the early pioneers.
