This Jacket By Google And Levi’s Is The Ultimate Wearable Device

If major fashion brands are not collaborating with top designers, they are partnering with celebrities or tech companies to come up with something chic and innovative. There are plenty of examples in the collaborative space where clothing companies are breaking ground on innovative technology experiences. One fine example is the Levi’s Commuter X Jacquard by Google, a wearable technology that resulted from a year-long effort between Levi’s Innovation team and Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group.

Levi’s and Google integrated the Jacquard technology into The Levis Commuter Trucker Jacket, which is designed for urban bike commuters. Google’s Project Jacquard paves the way for the introduction of weave touch and gesture interactivity into any textiles. Jacquard can transform clothes into interactive surfaces.

The jacket debuted at SXSW tech conference in Austin, Texas on March 12, 2016. Industry forecasters see wearable tech as fashion’s next big trend. The Google x Levi’s Commuter Jacket is considered by fashion analysts as a beta test for the possibility of technology you can wear.

According to Ivan Poupyrev, head of Project Jacquard, many people find wearables as not fashionables. Ivan disagrees with people who often think about fashion and apparel as the look and feel. He believes in the importance of story and authenticity behind the apparel that makes fashion, fashion. By targeting cyclists, the Commuter Trucker Jacket is implicit with its authenticity.

Google and Levi’s created an attractive and functional “smart jacket” which contains tiny circuits woven through its fabric to create connectivity. The conductive threads can respond to touch via a small patch on the sleeve. The patch or tag wirelessly connects the conductive yarns in the jacket’s cuff to the mobile device of your choice. The entire garment is washable and durable just like a regular denim. But do not forget to remove the patch before sending it to the Laundromat.

Wearers of the jacket can tap, swipe, or hold on the left cuff the sleeve to perform several tasks such as choosing a song, blocking or answering phone calls or accessing navigation information. They can program the textile interface to customize certain gestures with preferred functions. The Jacquard platform has an accompanying app to configure what primary and secondary uses to be from the aforementioned options ahead of time. Users can also access other known platforms including music streaming service Spotify and GPS tracker Strava.

The Levi’s Commuter denim jacket makes sense for bikers who navigate through dense urban traffic since it is no fun to take out the smartphone, check directions, and change the music tracks while riding a bike. The wearable tech is not only about being as adaptable as possible, says Poupyrev. He insists that the technology is also about being invisible as possible. The concept works perfectly in case of Levi’s Commuter for presenting a new way of thinking for the technologists confronted with the fashion industry.

The hi-tech apparel will hit U.S. stores this fall of 2017 and will run $350.

Lost Ways Of Survival Video

An amazing discovery in an abandoned house in Austin, Texas: A lost book of amazing survival knowledge, believed to have been long vanished to history, has been found in a dusty drawer in the house which belonged to a guy named Claude Davis.

Remember... back in those days, there was no electricity... no refrigerators... no law enforcement... and certainly no grocery store or supermarkets... Some of these exceptional skills are hundreds of years of old and they were learned the hard way by the early pioneers.

We've lost to history so much survival knowledge that we've become clueless compared to what our great grandfathers did or built on a daily basis to sustain their families.

Neighbors said that for the last couple of years Claude has tried to unearth and learn the forgotten ways of our great-grandparents and claimed to have found a secret of gargantuan proportions.
